The 2x2s believe Jesus will return to earth a second time, which occurs in two separate events. First Jesus will come for His church in the clouds in the air (1 Thes. 4:17) at which time all the Christians will disappear in the twinkling of an eye (1 Cor. 15:52). Some call this the Rapture, but 2x2s don’t generally use this term. The Workers do not preach much from the book of Revelation and their belief is as to when the Rapture takes place (before or during the Tribulation) is not known. They don’t believe any man will know when Jesus will return:

Matthew 24:36, 42 – But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. As in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of man be. Verse 42, Watch therefore; for you know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The Second Coming of Jesus will be with signs in the heavens and on earth:

Mark 13: 23-27 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17: For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

They believe the Tribulation will come as Jesus prophesied:

Matt 24:21-22 – 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
