Bible – their Authority

Home » Doctrine, Teachings & Belief » Bible – their Authority

The Bible is their Standard of Authority. The New Testament is their guide for living. They do not publish a doctrinal statement and say the Bible is their doctrine.

From their start …through the 1990s, the King James Version (KJV) was the only Bible version used. However, since the turn of the 21st century, other versions have begun to be used more frequently; also some Kindle Bibles. Not all 2x2s believe the Bible is inerrant.

They believe only their workers can interpret the true meaning of the Bible.

No outside Christian literature, books or handbooks are used/allowed, other than a Bible Concordance and Bible Atlas.

Revelation 22:19 – And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Quote: The Bible is a “dead book” unless it is “made to live” through the mouth of one of their preachers.

Outsider Quote: It was also on the strength of Romans 10 that I was told that the Bible was a dead book, and that I could not be saved by reading it, nor by the preaching of a hireling. It must of necessity be one of God’s own people (meaning themselves, of course). When I mentioned the names of some friends who are out preaching the Gospel at their own expense, I was told that those will not do either, it must be one of them. For they alone are called by revelation from God, and they alone preach on divine authority (Amelia A. Atmore, Secret Mormonism and Christian Science).
