A common refrain heard in meetings: I long to be more worthy in the coming days.
Hymns Old & New No. 282:
His way is best; I follow on,
Just where His bleeding feet have gone;
My one desire, to ►worthy◄ be,
And fill the place prepared for me.
Some ways 2x2s become more worthy are by submitting, suffering, obeying without questioning, denying self, doing good works and having a good word, etc. Homes where the Fellowship meetings are held are considered worthy homes.
Matthew 10:11, 13 – And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. Vs 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it
Worker Quote: You can see the great responsibility that rests upon every child of God if we are to be worthy of the place that is ours in this Heavenly Kingdom (Jack Carroll, Bakersfield, CA, 1946)
We cannot just live good lives and expect or obligate God to accept us into a saved eternity, but we live to be worthy of such. Being worthy is our goal. Live each day with this in mind that God has prepared a place for us, and we long to be worthy of it. If we live to fill the place given us on earth as we should, we will be worthy of the place prepared for us in eternity. If we can live like this our lives will be richer and better. Live with the thought in mind “and death would return our souls to thee”… and “worthy be, to fill the place prepared for me” (Donald Karnes Funeral, Holton, KS, 2004).
Worker Quote: If we are to “walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,” we must keep lowly and meek. The times we feel the most worthy may be the time when we are the most unworthy (Arthur BentonArthur Benton, Cid, NC, 1946).
