The terms friends, saints, brothers and sisters refer to lay members, and all have the same meaning. These terms refer to those who have openly professed through a Worker, regularly attend and participate in the 2×2 church meetings and follow its beliefs and practices.
There are two types of lay members. Some are born and raised (B&R) in a 2×2 home. Others are adult joiners or latecomers.
John 15:13-15 – Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Philippians 1 – Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi…
1 Corinthians 1:2 – Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints…
Hebrews 2:11 …he is not ashamed to call them brethren
Worker Quote: We are glad to tell those of you who are young, there are two wonderful possibilities before you. The greatest and best is to put your life on God’s altar where it can be used wholly in the service of others. Let God make you a fisher of men, a minister of Christ’s Gospel…Second to this is the possibility of being a saint and possibly having a home that could be used in the service of God. Some of you say you want a home. Nothing wrong in this if God has not called you to fill the first and best place. (Ed Cornock, 1965 Denver Conv.)
